Given the massive technological advancements, simulation is adopting modern disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. Considering the accessibility and acceleration of AR (artificial reality) and VR (virtual reality) technology that provides 360 degree view, it will not be far from reality when simulation-based designs will be available in a 3D environment on an AR/VR headset. Currently, engineers are visualizing their simulation-driven designs on 2D screens which does not prove to be effective. But 3D visualization will make the designs easier to understand, edit, and test them to facilitate better evaluation of data, thereby making it an efficient and coherent process. Moreover, with the growing popularity of using VR in simulation-driven training, several sectors (especially education) are attempting to leverage this technology. Researchers have already opined that the benefits of training provided through VR have triumphed over the training given via text or video content. This goes to say that VR will come across in the upcoming times as the most optimum tool for cognitive and psychomotor skill training for comprehending visual information and visual scanning skills. Our goal with this special edition is to highlight the best-in-class simulation solution providers that leverage innovative technologies to drive success. This edition includes insightful articles from CIOs and business leaders.
