Virtual Meetings are Becoming the Norm In the digital age of enterprise mobility, the various stakeholders within an organization's ecosystem are able to close multi-million dollar deals over video conference, screen share, and meetings by leveraging advanced collaboration technologies. The same deals that couldn't be closed over a simple telephone call or e-mail are now being penciled in remotely, between organizations, their various branch offices, technology partners, and vendors stationed in multiple regions across the globe. Due to the infusion of cognitive technologies and the inter-personal experience created by artificial intelligence (AI), the various stakeholders of an organization are able to connect when and how they need to. Needless to say, these technologies are also leading to employees becoming more productive and organizations enjoying improved ROI and VOI. Owing to the influx of AI-enhanced chatbots and virtual assistants, employees can address a myriad of other organizational tasks that were previously ignored or not prioritized. According to a recent survey, almost a third of organizations in North America and Europe have users adopting virtual assistants, primarily to capitalize on benefits such as voice-to-text dictation, supporting team collaboration, and schedule management. Besides virtual assistants, the latest enterprise collaboration technologies such as enhanced video and screen sharing, facial recognition, and transcription services are changing the landscape of the team collaboration experience. These technology trends are no longer restricted to just large-scale enterprises that have more than a dozen offices across the globe. Today, SMBs and innovative startups are constantly seeking affordable collaboration technologies that can cover every customer interface during sales, marketing, orders, support, and service interactions. Moreover, collaboration software systems have features to support their management functions, helping them track the progress of a project. A recent report suggests that mobile workers will make up more than 70 percent of the U.S. workforce by the year 2020, as enterprises are increasingly reliant on freelance contractors and managed service providers. Since scattered resources make it complex for various teams to assemble in a physical room, the need of the hour is for organizations--regardless of size--to expand their collaboration repertoire. After all, it's only a matter of time until virtual meetings become a norm. Leafing through this special edition will allow strategic planners and leaders to comprehend the horizons of opportunity for translating trends into profits.Joe PhillipManaging Editoreditor@cioapplications.comJoe PhillipEditorialCopyright © 2019 ValleyMedia, Inc.
