Evolution of Location TraceabilityAs the location services space continues to grow, the piloting and deployment of Indoor Positioning Systems are in full momentum across many regions around the globe. The indoor positioning market is estimated to grow to $4.4 billion by 2019 with strong demand in retail, hospitality, healthcare, travel, and other sectors. Today, more than 80-90 percent of people's time is spent indoors and combining that with rising smartphone penetration and changing consumer mobile buyer behavior; it is no wonder that startups and established organizations are quickly looking for ways to provide location-based apps to engage their users indoors. Within the various applications of smartphone platforms, location-based services are predominant as they primarily function via indoor space managements and indoor location tracking for various large venues helping multiple applications connect with users on a real-time basis. This, in turn, has increased the number of pilots and deployments of Indoor Positioning Systems the underlying technology that enables indoor positioning for location-based apps. The indoor navigation applications are making it possible for venue owners to monitor and track assets. Information collected from users can be expected to boost strategic marketing decision making. The automation and robotics manufacturing industry will continue to leverage the real-time asset information and indoor positioning technologies on a broader scale in the years ahead. Although modern indoor positioning systems are still relatively young, they're already beginning to add value in a wide range of use cases from managing hospital personnel to tracking product shipments in warehouses. As these systems and technologies continue to evolve, they'll become increasingly integrated into everyday life. There are numerous technologies such as Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE), Wi-Fi, Computer Vision, Ultrasonic, etc., which can be deployed to track assets indoors. In this edition, we bring to you companies that are pushing the envelope by extending cutting edge indoor positioning capabilities to new environments and business settings that were not covered before.
